About USAPI

USAPI is quite different from other organizations in that it will be an inclusive rather than exclusive group. The first difference that you will see is that membership is open to all "professional investigators." A membership requirement will be a minimum of one-year full-time employment as a investigator. Law Enforcement, PI's, Insurance, Child Welfare, Military, etc., are all welcome.  We even have a Student Category for the individual is at school and expresses an interest in learning more about the investigative profession.

The Focus of USAPI is:
Education • Certification • Membership Benefits

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION:

USAPI will be offering on-line learning through our website, the content of which is under development in conjunction with some of the most noteworthy experts in the world. Additional education will occur through USAPI conferences and specialty seminars throughout the year, and I am currently working to develop regional classroom learning centers in the northeast and the south.

USAPI has developed and will be seeking brand recognition of the Board Certified Professional Investigator (BCPI registered trademark) designation. This is not just a phrase that we developed, rather we have assembled a very impressive Certification Board, with board member positions for each of our specialty tracks:

1. Criminal Investigation

2. Civil Investigation

3. Insurance Investigation

4. Computer Forensic and Internet

5. Security

6. Special Victims/Child Abuse/Nursing Homes

7. Investigative Law and Ethics

8. Investigative Business Administration

9. Terrorism & Intelligence

10. Criminology and Behavioral Sciences

The current Certification Board consists of Dr. Henry C. Lee, Vernon J. Geberth, Don Rondeau, Warren G. Kruse II, Rory J. McMahon, Dr. Maurice Godwin, John Lajoie, Cynthia Hetherington, Jimmie N. Mesis, Stuart James, Reginald Montgomery, Barry Zalma, Michael R. Ronczkowski, Dr. Richard Anthony Spurgeon Hall, Dr. Tom Strent and Brandon Perron. I am actively seeking additional World Class experts to sit on the USAPI Certification Board to insure that the BCPI will become recognized as the preeminent certification for investigators in much the same way as the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) has in board certifying doctors.

In order for a USAPI member to sit for the BCPI examination, that member must demonstrate 3 years of full-time employment as a professional investigator, and there will be a Continuing Education Credit (CEC) requirement that must be met every year as well.

In addition to the BCPI certification, USAPI will also be offering Expert Certifications based upon the works of our Board Members, or developed in conjunction with our university partners.

MEMBER BENEFITS:
Member Benefits is an area that is often overlooked in other organizations. I am working on a real program that will include meaningful nationwide discounts to our members. I have had meetings with several well known data providers, all of whom have developed very competitive products yet USAPI has chosen to endorse Tracers Information Specialists, Inc., and Tracers has agreed to provide USAPI members with a 10% discount for the life of their membership in USAPI. For more information on all our benefits, click here.

USAPI INSURANCE PROGRAM:
USAPI in association with Yergey Insurance have created a unique opportunity for our members to receive the most competitive rates for various types of insurance lines. Our USAPI Insurance Program offers our members the benefit of significant group discounts normally not available to small organizations.

Lastly, the matter of cost in belonging to so many organizations is certainly an issue. The yearly cost of USAPI membership is currently $50, with a one time $25 application fee. $50 may well be worth the cost of adding a second line to your signature file of current memberships! Since USAPI is a for profit corporation, you will never be asked for donations or to volunteer your precious time. So, when deciding which organization(s) to join, be it one or many, I would hope that you and your membership will give serious consideration to the USAPI.
