USAPI Continuing Education Credit Program

The United States Association of Professional Investigators, through its Board Certified Professional Investigator Program requires all members who have attained the BCPI designation to maintain excellence through its Continuing Education Credit program (CEC).

Requirements:

The minimum required is 12 Continuing Education Credit hours per calendar year. All 12 CEC hours must relate directly to one or more of the ten BCPI Programs Core Investigative Tracks.

While BCPI’s are encouraged to take further CEC courses to enhance their competency, hours in excess of the minimum requirements cannot be carried forward to meet the obligations of future years. BCPI’s are required to certify compliance online or by mail no later than the 31st of May of the next even numbered year (2006, 2008, 2010, etc.) following their attainment of their BCPI designation, and on the 31st of May of every
subsequent even numbered year so long as their BCPI designation is in force.

In order to maintain the BCPI, USAPI membership must also be maintained.

Maintaining CEC Records:

BCPI’s are responsible for keeping track of their CEC credits and retaining for two years any supporting documents for CEC credit they earn, such as proof of attendance and completion of courses. These records will be required submissions as part of the CEC verification process.

Any member who is unable to demonstrate CEC compliance within the allotted compliance dates will have a sixty (60) day grace period to fulfill the requirements.  If compliance is still not complete, the BCPI designation will be suspended until such time as full compliance is met. If full compliance is not completed within six (6) months of the initial suspension date, the member’s BCPI designation will be revoked. Reinstatement will require the retaking of all pre-requisite specialty and BCPI examinations. USAPI membership and the BCPI designation will be immediately revoked for any member who is found to have made a false certification of CECs.
